I am a proud native of High Point, North Carolina. I grew up in a single parent household after my father died when I was 4 years old. I was raised by my mother for most of my childhood and she taught me how to sacrifice for others. My mother later remarried my step-father who also taught me personal responsibility and how to be a man.
I attended Greater First United Baptist church where my pastors and congregation became an influential spiritual guide for me. I am truly grateful to the High Point neighborhood for its positivity, inclusiveness, and compassion, traits that molded me into the man I am today.
After graduating from Ragsdale High School, I attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where I majored in Political Science. Upon graduating college, I immediately wanted to give back to my community by helping organize its citizens to address their real issues. I went to work for some key political campaigns in the state including Elaine Marshall for US Senate, Doug Berger for NC Senate, and Marcus Brandon for US Congress. Working closely with these public servants, I became inspired to make a run of my own.
