Amy Galey is a working mom who gets the job done. Amy's roots run deep in Alamance and Guilford counties - and she will fight for our values.

As a county commissioner, Amy is protecting the community from COVID-19 and helping small businesses and workers get back on their feet. She championed and passed the CARES Act, over $3 million, just for our community:

Hazard pay for public health workers and first responders (full- and part-time EMS, emergency management, the Fire Marshal's Office, and the Department of Social Services)
Loans to local small businesses and nonprofits
Funding to help run safe and secure elections this fall
Expanding broadband to facilitate teaching, learning, and working remotely
Support for law enforcement, maintaining detention facilities and protecting people there from the coronavirus
Amy has held the line on keeping property taxes low. In the State Senate, she will fight to cut taxes for families and small businesses. She supports tax reform that allows individuals, families, and local businesses to keep more of the money they earn: the first $21,500 a household earns should be 100 percent free of state income taxes.

When it comes to educating our children and preparing them for the future, there is no uniform answer. Our children deserve quality education with a range of choices to meet their academic needs, abilities, and interests. Policies should promote each family's ability to make the best decisions for their own children. As the parent of three young adults who attended public high schools, Amy has personally observed the range of creative and innovative opportunities available. In representing NC Senate District 24, Amy will work with other state leaders to provide choices to families, support our education professionals, and ensure that our young people are prepared for the future.

The foundation of a quality education is a wonderful teacher. Amy has increased education spending by 16 percent in just three years on the County Commission. Inexcusably, Amy's opponent has opposed the last two state budgets, which included much-needed and deserved teacher pay raises. That is unacceptable. Amy will champion and pass teacher pay raises in Raleigh.
