PERSONAL:
Loring was born on February 23, 1953, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He grew up in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He received a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of Oklahoma, where he also received a Juris Doctor. He practiced law in Miami, Oklahoma, where he served as the District Attorney from 1991 through 1999. He then entered into private practice Eddie Wyant. When Wyant became District Attorney in 2004, Loring served as his First Assistant until Lorings election to the Oklahoma House of Representatives. Loring also served on the Oklahoma Commission on Children and Youth for 15 years, serving three terms as Chairman. He and his wife, Barbara, a teacher of special education at Miami Public Schools, raised two sons, David and Ian, both of whom served in the U.S. Army. The Lorings also purchased a small farm next to their home in Miami. Representative Loring still serves as a Boy Scout leader, and enjoys camping, canoeing, hiking, rappelling, and other outdoor adventures with his scouts.
